Bats, Tuatara and others
Although birds and fish are our best known animals, and bugs have the biggest numbers we have some very cool animals and one very rare reptile living around us. Most of the animals here are endemic. A few are introduced but we thought they should be mentioned anyway. We have also included a couple of short bits on how some animals were used in times gone by.
